'You know you're Turkish when...'
- You say open or close the light instead of turn it on or off

- If there is a sale on any item, you buy 100

- You make coffee in a saucepan

You never buy bin bags but use your saved grocery bags for it

- You call an older person you've never met before 'abi' or 'yenge'

- Your mother does everything for you if you are male

- You do all the housework and cooking if you are female

- Your relatives alone could populate a small city

- Everyone is a family friend, or somehow related to you

- Instead of cooking a meal for 4 you cook for 10

- When you have a dinner party there is enough food to last for
the next 2 months

- You secure your luggage with a rope

- You ask your dad a simple question and he tells you story of how
he had to walk miles to get to school.

- You take your shoes off as soon as you enter someones house

- Your mum seems to think her future lies at the bottom of a little
coffee cup where you would find the dried up coffee after she has
turned the cup upside down.

- No one ever calls ahead to say they are coming round

- You feel some kind of tension whenever you are around Greeks, Kurds or
Armenians

- Your mother can make yogurt from nothing

- You have salami, cheese and bread for breakfast

- You argue with anyone who says Turkish Delight is from Greece

- You have loads of Ben Shermen, Calvin Klien and Ed Hardy shirts
